Log trains will be returning to New Plymouth today after an 18 month hiatus

Log trains will be returning to New Plymouth today after an 18 month hiatus

Kiwirail's announced services will start running between Whanganui and New Plymouth most days.

Port Taranaki will also be included.

KiwiRail's Paul Ashton is urging locals in the area to be vigilant when crossing tracks next to the Coastal Walkway.

He says they hope the change will reduce road congestion and transport emissions.

He says people should expect trains at any time, and obey signage around tracks.
