A busy day for Police carrying out breath tests on the Coromandel Peninsular

A busy day for Police carrying out breath tests on the Coromandel Peninsular

Officers carried out over 900 breath tests at 28 different checkpoints, with five drivers processed for excess breath alcohol.

Area commander Inspector Mike Henwood, says yesterday's high number of checks is a credit to their road policing teams, all focused on prevention and enforcement.

Police are also on the look out for poor driving behaviour, and encouraging all road users to drive responsibly and safely whenever and wherever they go.
