Surf lifeguards are changing methods because of coastal erosion

Surf lifeguards are changing methods because of coastal erosion

Paekakariki Surf Lifeguards are planning to shift inland as the dunes in front of the club are incrementally swept away.

The access ramp to the beach also collapsed two weeks ago after high tides.

Club committee member Matt Warren says the move's neccessary - but will slow lifeguard support.

He says it'll likely mean more lifeguards are needed on patrol.
