Greymouth businesses are holding out hope the train line will be open in the next few days

Greymouth businesses are holding out hope the train line will be open in the next few days

Omoto's State Highway 7 between Greymouth and Stillwater has reopened to one lane - after being closed for the past month because of a significant slip.

But KiwiRail staff are still working to restore the rail link - aiming to have it open later this week.

Grey District mayor, Tania Gibson, says it's been a tough ride for many.

She says one business is down 70-thousand-dollars compared to last month, just because they're missing out on visitors passing through.
