More spring snow is on the way, as wild weather continues to cause havoc ahead of the long weekend

State Highway 6 between Whataroa and Harihari on the West Coast, has reopened after an earlier rockfall.

MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says heavy snow warnings for inland Canterbury and Otago are among the array of severe weather warnings.

He says people planning on heading around those areas will need to keep up to date, as alpine passes will likely be affected.
