There are glimpses of sun for parts of the country, while cooler temperatures stick around

MetService is forecasting the Upper North Island to be the best place to be today, with mostly fine spells.

Eastern areas can expect showers, due to a lower pressure system bringing colder air from the Southern Ocean.

Metservice says a low to the east of the country is expected to deepen and it's maintaining, and potentially strengthening the southerly flow.
