Crews have been working through much of the night to fix a burst watermain on Auckland's North Shore

Crews have been working through much of the night to fix a burst watermain on Auckland's North Shore

Homes and businesses in Northcote, Hillcrest and Takapuna have been left with little to no water.

Watercare says it was notified about a fault on Lake Road in Northcote about 1.45pm yesterday afternoon.

Local councillor Richard Hills says the burst was complex, and caused a significant disruption because it occurred on a main transmission line.

Northcote's Bridgeway Cinema had to cancel last night's screenings due to the lack of water.
