    Motorists in Auckland are being warned to take extra care on the roads today


    Surface flooding south of the Ellerslie-Panmure highway brought traffic to a halt this afternoon.

    NZTA says the water has now receded and congestion is easing.

    The warning comes as a large part of the country is hit by sporadic rain and strong winds.
