Motorists in the Canterbury high country should drive with caution today

A cold front is bringing snow down to 400 metres.

And MetService meteorologist Angus Hines says snowfall warnings have been issued for the Lewis, Arthur's and Porters Passes.

Hines says anyone planning to cross the country should check roads are open first with the Transport Authority.
