Banks Peninsula Fire crews are responding in force to a blaze on a hillside off Pawsons Valley Road, at the north end of Akaroa Harbour

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says they were called to the scene at about 10 past seven -- where the hedge fire was threatening a house.
Three fire crews, three tankers and a helicopter have now contained the 300 square metre blaze, and the home is no longer in danger.
