    Wellington was shaken by a magnitude 4.8 earthquake last night



    Seventeen-thousand people have reported feeling the jolt, which is being described by Geonet as 'strong'.

    It struck 15 kilometres south-west of Wellington before midnight last night, at a depth of 13 kilometres.
