A heavy rain watch remains in place for the central North Island until midnight Saturday.
MetService meteorologist John Law says the wet weather will move across the North Island on Saturday, while there's clearer skies in the South.
He says more snow's forecast in the far Southern parts of the country, as well as some cold southerly winds.
Law says some of the South Island roads will likely be impacted by ice.
