Movement around some parts of the South Island remains limited, with several highways closed due to the weather

Movement around some parts of the South Island remains limited, with several highways closed due to the weather

NZTA says a day of fierce winds, fallen trees and powerlines, and flooding, means roading teams are still getting to the clean-up, and are monitoring several state highways.

All highways between Christchurch and the West Coast remain closed - including State Highway 73 where a truck and trailer was blown over around 8am yesterday, and is still yet to be recovered.

State Highway 1 just north of Gore remains closed, and parts of State Highway 6 in Invercargill, State Highway 8 near Lawrence, and State Highway 6 between Lake Hawea and Maungawera.
