    Defending men's singles champion Mike Galloway's advanced to today's quarterfinals at the national bowls championships in Christchurch


    The final eight also features former champions Tony Grantham and Kelvin Scott, but is missing high performance squad members Raymond Martin, Finbar McGuigan and Gary Lawson.

    In the women's pairs, the vastly experienced duo of Sanda Keith and Bev Morel have advanced to today's semifinals to take on Natasha Grimshaw and Hanna Rio da Silva.

    The other semifinal will be national high performance duo Clare Hendra and Tayla Bruce taking on Kirsten Rowe and Emily Miller on their home Burnside green.
