The Breakers will do everything they can to keep import Scotty Hopson at the club for another Australian NBL season.

The Auckland-based franchise currently sits fifth on the league table, with a shot at making the playoffs.

Hopson's played a pivotal role in the Breakers' success this season, averaging 19 points a game.

Breakers owner Matt Walsh says they're desperate to extend Hopson's contract.

The Breakers play the South East Melbourne Phoenix in Christchurch on Friday in their regular season finale.

The Proteas have pulled off a successful chase to beat the White Ferns in the third of five Twenty20 cricket games at the Basin Reserve.

In reply to New Zealand's 153, South Africa have made 154, with a ball to spare, for a five wicket win.

The Ferns now lead the series 2-1.
