Breakers import Freddie Gillespie will miss the side's opening game of the new NBL basketball season after lodging an early guilty plea for head-butting an opponent

The incident resulted in the 27-year-old being ejected from Friday's pre-season loss to Sydney.

The plea sees Gillespie's ban reduced from two games to one.

The Breakers open their regular season on Saturday against the Bullets.
