One person's dead after a crash between a car and a logging truck near Tuakau, in the Waikato

Emergency services were called to River Road, south of the town, about 10-past-four this afternoon.

Fire and Emergency say Port Waikato is inaccessible from Tuakau, and motorists are diverted through Mercer.

The Serious Crash Unit will investigate.
