The Aces have smashed Otago by an innings and 129 runs in their opening Plunket Shield game of the season, after bowling out their visitors for 54, less than two hours into day three.

Coach Heinrich Malan says it'll only be a couple of quiets.

Canterbury's beaten Wellington by eight wickets at the Basin Reserve, while Central's 118 without loss chasing 254 to beat Northern Districts in Hamilton.
