Former Australian cricketers have criticised current captain Tim Paine's decision to declare, when David Warner had a chance to break a world record

Warner was on 335 not out when Paine declared with Australia on 589 for three on day two of their second test against Pakistan in Adelaide.

Pakistan are 96 for six in reply.

Brain Lara's record of 400 not out was under threat before the declaration.

Former batsman Michael Hussey says chances like that don't come around often and he would've liked to have seen Warner given a chance to push on.

Former bowler Brett Lee says they should have gone to Warner and given him eight more overs to bat to the dinner break, and said good luck.
