A coroner says what caused a crash that killed promising teen equestrian Kate Gutry ... is elusive

A coroner says what caused a crash that killed promising teen equestrian Kate Gutry ... is elusive

The 17-year-old died instantly when she crashed her ute on a rural road north of Christchurch in February 2021.

Coroner Mary-Anne Borrowdale says she hasn't been able to establish what happened, but Gutry may have been fatigued as a result of a busy school, personal and work life.

She also says Gutry may have been distracted - including by pain or a seizure caused by an undiagnosed tumour.
