The nominees are in for the Halberg Awards' favourite sports moment of the year

The nominees are in for the Halberg Awards' favourite sports moment of the year

The expected cast appears such as the Silver Ferns' netball World Cup victory, Scott McLaughlin winning Bathurst and Martin Guptill's run out of MS Dhoni to launch New Zealand into the cricket World Cup final.

Triumphs by snowboarder Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, skier Alice Robinson, para-shot putter Lisa Adams and the women's rowing eight also feature.

For those of more aggressive tastes, Israel Adesanya's UFC title gets a nod, and, for the more sadistic among the population, there's the Black Caps' super over loss against England at Lord's.

If all else fails, there's always All Black TJ Perenara's try against Namibia at the World Cup.
