Penrith coach Ivan Cleary insists his son Nathan Cleary's immediate sporting future remains with the Panthers and the NRL ... amid speculation the star halfback could be eyeing a move to rugby union

Nathan Cleary's contracted at Penrith until the end of 2027.

But Ivan Cleary won't rule out the possibility his son, the New South Wales half, is exploring a switch to the rival code.

Though Cleary senior was firm that father and son would remain united until the end of his contract.

Meanwhile, rugby league great Mal Meninga has been confirmed as the coach of the NRL's 18th team, the Perth Bears, who'll enter the men's competition in 2027.
