The back-and-forth continues in the wake of the controversial end to the British and Irish Lions series-sealing win over the Wallabies in Melbourne

The back-and-forth continues in the wake of the controversial end to the British and Irish Lions series-sealing win over the Wallabies in Melbourne

The decision not to penalise Lions loose forward Jac Morgan for his ruck clean out on Australian flanker Carlo Tizzano prior to the match-winning try came under criticism from Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt in light of what he called rugby's "big player safety push".

Forced into commenting at 2027 World Cup ticketing launch in Sydney yesterday - World Rugby boss Alan Gilpin expressed disappointment in Schmidt's critique - citing new hi-tech mouthguards as one element of their focus on welfare.

Schmidt, though, has taken the opportunity to pick up on Gilpin's comments with Stan Sport, offering data from the smart mouthguards players use.

Gilpin confirmed the findings of a referee review would be provided to the teams, but would not be made public.
