A summer layoff has meant more work is needed to get the Silver Ferns back in shape for their Constellation Cup series in March

New Zealand will host Australia in four tests.

It will be their first set of matches since their Taini Jamison series win over England in November.

Vice captain Gina Crampton confirmed a few players had to leave camp on Thursday as their fitness wasn't up to scratch.

She says all came into camp a little behind the eight ball.

Crampton adds they're all training with their respective clubs which will help with conditioning.
