    Shane van Gisbergen has been awarded the Barry Sheene Medal as Supercars' best and fairest driver


    The Kiwi endured a tough season, finishing a distant second in the drivers' championship behind Scott McLaughlin, who claimed back-to-back titles.

    The moment that potentially sealed the award for van Gisbergen was when he raced out of his own car to check after McLaughlin following a crash on the Gold Coast.
