The resumption of football's A-League season is in doubt

The resumption of football's A-League season is in doubt

With the border closure between Victoria and New South Wales brought forward to midnight last night, players and staff from the three Melbourne clubs were given an hour's notice to assemble at 10pm, firstly for a proposed 10-hour bus ride to Sydney.

Then a change of plan for the players, and they prepared for a hastily arranged charter flight, via Canberra.

But having boarded the plane, bad weather in Canberra scuppered those plans, so everyone got off and went home.

With the border closed, Football Federation Australia now needs an exemption to get the teams to Sydney in order to complete the season.
