England football manager omits Harry Maguire from final European Championships squad

England football manager Gareth Southgate has omitted Harry Maguire from his final European Championships squad after the Manchester United defender failed to overcome a calf injury

The 31-year-old - who has 63 caps - sustained the injury on club duty in April.

Southgate says Maguire has made progress but he would not have passed muster for the group stages.

Tottenham's James Maddison and Manchester City's Jack Grealish missed selection.
