Inflation's risen ... but should settle in time

Inflation's risen ... but should settle in time

New Stats NZ figures show the Consumer Price Index increased 0.8 percent in the first quarter of this year -- in line with predictions.

Transport rose four percent over the quarter, the greatest gain in a decade, and fuel went up seven percent.

Kiwibank chief economist Jarrod Kerr says definite cost pressure is coming through, but it shouldn't last.

He says once a few things have sorted themselves out, particularly at the ports, he expects inflation pressure to ease off into next year.
