    The Vatican says Pope Francis is in a critical condition after suffering a long asthmatic respiratory crisis


    The 88 year old is being treated in hospital for double pneumonia and chronic bronchitis.

    The Vatican's confirmed he is more unwell than he was yesterday - and has undergone a blood transfusion because of a low platelet count.

    Sky New's Lisa Holland, in Vatican City, says the Vatican's given the sense of being very concerned - with updates this morning suggesting he's still at high risk.

    She says it's been quite a hard day for the team monitoring the Pope - as to how he's feeling.
