The Government has announced incentives for clinics who help out graduating nurses, they will be capped at 400 graduates a year.
NZNO College of Primary Health Care Nurses chair Tracey Morgan says the better option is making sure hospital nurses and GP nurses earn the same.
She says the incentives will be a temporary reprieve, and once they run out, clinics will struggle to keep their doors open again.
Also announced yesterday was a programme to train up to 100 overseas doctors as GPs, and a plan to set up 24/7 digital healthcare.
