A Dunedin teen's escaped a murder conviction, over a fatal stabbing at the city's bus hub

The 14-year-old -- who has permanent name suppression -- has been found guilty of manslaughter, over the death of Enere Taana-McLaren last May.

The jury returned its unanimous verdict for the lesser charge, after more than two days of deliberations.

    He'll be sentenced in July.

Herald reporter Ben Tomsett says the public gallery was quiet as the verdict was delivered - with emotions high among the jury.

He says it was a heavy decision, with several members of the jury crying.
