Belief parents need to play a part in improving dwindling literacy levels at our schools

Belief parents need to play a part in improving dwindling literacy levels at our schools

The Government's launching a new digital tool for students sitting below the required standard - and introducing more professional development in literacy.

New data shows only a quarter of Year Eight students achieved their curriculum level in writing last year.

Education Minister Erica Stanford says parents have been unaware of children's results, which is why a Parent Portal's been launched.

She says parents have a responsibility to do something at home, when achievement starts falling behind.
