    Victoria Beckham feels her foundation has been a "lifetime in the making"

    The 51-year-old fashion designer launched her eponymous beauty brand six years ago but is only now releasing her first full skin coverage, Foundation Drops - a serum-like formula which comes in 19 shades - and explained she was keen to offer the best possible product


    She told HarpersBazaar.com: "Some products feel like they've been a lifetime in the making, and The Foundation Drops are exactly that for me. I was looking for something really innovative that hadn't been done before.

    "A lot of people claim to have skincare science within their foundation, but I knew that I wanted to do that to another level, and do it in a really meaningful way. So it became very apparent that I actually should pause and really think about it.

    "Partnering with Professor Bader was never in doubt; Augustinus Bader has the best skincare, and I was thrilled to work with them again on this."

    Victoria has spoken in the past about her struggles with her own complexion and she was keen for the product to be as light as possible so people can feel less self-conscious.

    She siad: "I remember once doing the school run and being so self-conscious that my foundation was so heavy. I want my foundation to give me confidence. I want it to perfect my complexion, but I don't want to feel like I'm wearing a mask.

    "I've really become a foundation minimalist now. I love the idea that these foundation drops look like real skin and feel like nothing, but do everything. It was so important that there was a skincare element for me; this has been the ethos from the get-go when we started thinking about complexion.

    "I've tried many [formulas], but while we were developing the Foundation Drops, I really used our Concealer Pen dotted in areas where I needed it most.

    "I really enjoy the ceremonial process of lightly shaking the bottle and then placing a few drops on the back of my hand, taking my foundation brush, and then literally painting it onto my skin. I'll really focus on my jawline, forehead, and around the nose.

    "And then I'll just use a few drops lightly dotted around my face for a more natural day look. It depends on what I'm doing that day, but you can really build the foundation up as well for more coverage."
