It's a leap compared to 13-percent for Westpac - and no change for BNZ.
Most of the profit rise is due to a good year for the bank's hedging - investments designed to offset financial risks.
Lending's up four percent - and deposits up five.
More than 40-percent of home loan customers are at least six months ahead on repaying their mortgage.
More than 45-percent have a savings buffer of at least five-thousand dollars.
