Jake Paul has had two titanium plates inserted into his jaw

The 28-year-old star underwent surgery for a broken jaw after being stopped in the sixth round of Friday's (19.12.25) fight against former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua in Miami and he is recovering well, though will be unable to eat solid food for a week.

Sharing some photos from the hospital, as well as a video of his X-ray, Jake wrote on Instagram: "Surgery went well thanks for all the love and support.

"2 titanium plates on each side. Some teeth removed. Have to have only liquids for 7 days, so no @doghausdogs :( (sic)"

The YouTuber later thanked the medical team at Miami University Hospital for taking "amazing care of" him on a post on X.

Although the defeat against Anthony marked Jake's second loss and his first by knockout, he insisted it was a "great experience", though he now plans to drop back down a weight class to cruiserweight.

He wrote on Instagram: "Great experience. I love this sport. Time to rest, recover and return to cruiserweight.

"Who do you want to see me fight?"

Jake had said immediately after the fight he knew he had broken his jaw but he "was not surprised" by the outcome.

He said post-fight: "That was crazy, I had a blast, I'm blessed by God to put on a performance like this. Anthony is a great fighter, I got my a*** beat. But I'll come back and keep winning.

"I've already won in every single way in life, my family, my jaw is broken by the way, it's definitely broke, nice little a*** whooping from one of the best ever to do it.

"Honestly, I'm not surprised, I just got tired, so much handling his weight, I think with better cardio, I could've kept fighting. I did my personal best.

"Oh, for sure, we'll heel the broken jaw, go back, fight people my own weight and go for the cruiserweight world title."

Paul's promoter Nakisa Bidarian revealed that the star drove himself to hospital after the fight and is now facing some time out of the ring to recover.

The Most Valuable Promotions boss said: "We think he broke his jaw. But he's fine.

"He took a shower, he drove himself to hospital. A broken jaw is very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA. The recovery time is four to six weeks."
