The body of a man killed at a shooting in Waitarere Beach will be removed from the scene tomorrow ahead of a post-mortem

Emergency services were called to the town near Levin early this morning.

Four people were found with shot wounds.

A 60-year-old man's dead, while a 46-year-old woman and two young men aged 21 and 17 remain in a critical condition.

Manawatu Area Commander Inspector Ross Grantham says officers arrived within eight minutes - likely saving lives.

A young girl at the scene is being supported, and is in the care of family.
