Even bigger bills at the supermarket could be on the way

The Infometrics Grocery Supplier Cost Index was 2.3 percent higher in January compared to the same time last year - that growth is slightly slower than December 2025's figure.

Infometrics Principal Economist Brad Olsen says it's not certain that we will continue to see the size of the increases trend down.

He says producers have flagged issues.

Olsen says many have indicated that they will have to hike prices because their own costs are increasing.
