Ellie Taylor never thought 'Ted Lasso' would be a huge success

The 40-year-old actress guest starred in the AppleTV+ show as Sassy, the best friend of businesswoman Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) and Ellie admitted she was quite annoyed when she had to audition for the show

She told heat magazine: "I just went to an audition. I was a big cross because it was quite a long way away but luckily, I went for it. Can you imagine if I hadn't?

"I don't think anyone expected it to be the hit it was - I certainly didn't have a clue. I feel so lucky to be part of a show that means so much to so many people."

Sassy and Rebecca's close friendship was an important part of the show and luckily Ellie and Hannah hit it off as soon as they met.

She said: "Just one audition and then straight in. But I can't imagine anyone not getting on with Hannah. She is an absolute delight."

Meanwhile, Ellie is set to embark on her 'Palavering' comedy tour in the UK next year and admitted she is quite nervous.

She said: "I like to be in bed by 9.30pm and I hate working weekends so stand-up is not my idea job [but] I'm quite excited about it.

"It's been quite a few years since I've been out on the road, so I'd be insane if I didn't feel a little bit nervous. Trying to make people laugh is such a weird job."
