Neighbours have described hearing popping sounds - at the time a person was shot in Auckland's Pakuranga this morning

Police were called to reports of gunshots on Marvon Downs Avenue about 6.30.

A person found injured in a van, died soon after.

Pakuranga local, Prajwal Kastala says his sister heard events unfolding from one street over.

He says his sister said she could hear gunshots and a helicopter flying overhead - that sounded very close.
