A Labour MP says the Government's Bill reforming Firearm Prohibition Orders is an overreach

A Labour MP says the Government's Bill reforming Firearm Prohibition Orders is an overreach

The bill makes changes to the Search and Surveillance Act and Sentencing Act, and reforms the Firearms Prohibition Order regime.

It expands criteria for a court to make such an order -- and gives police search power to monitor compliance.

Labour MP Duncan Webb says it's a Bill that has a very significant invasion of people's homes.

He says the Government's eroding some pretty fundamental rights.
