A push for better food policies, which promote healthy and sustainable diets

A push for better food policies, which promote healthy and sustainable diets

Canterbury University research has looked into how food policies support the transition to healthy and environment-friendly diets.

It's found that health and nutrition is often neglected in policies, with no targets to improve the availability of nutritious foods.

Researcher Jan Hales says there's also opposite approaches to the way policies are developed, so they're not always aligning.

She says policies in one area can undermine others, and we need a more collaborative approach.
