A woman has sustained critical injuries after an assault in Auckland's Balmoral

Police say the victim and offender met at a Balmoral Road property around 2am, and an argument ensued.

The male was asked to leave, but forced his way into the house where he allegedly assaulted the victim.

A 17-year-old male has been arrested.

The woman's recovering in hospital in a serious, but stable condition.
