The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation wants the word out, about spirometry

The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation wants the word out, about spirometry

A group of 26 health professionals, is calling on the Government to improve access to and awareness of the lung test.

It's used to investigate the cause of symptoms such as breathlessness, coughing and wheezing, and is essential for diagnosing asthma.

Foundation Chief Executive Letitia Harding, says not enough people know about it, and we don't have enough health professionals with the training or equipment.

She says it's important to bring a focus to the test with our high asthma and COPD rates.

Harding says they hope to meet with the Health Minister next year.
