A reminder the best of summer is now behind us

A reminder the best of summer is now behind us

Strong winds and heavy rain have been moving their way up the South Island over yesterday and today - with various warnings and watches in place.

Up to 200 millimetres of rain is expected in the Westland ranges - and 100 millimetres nearer to the coast.

MetService forecaster Lewis Ferris says most of it will have cleared by the end of today.

He says it will also bring some rain into dry areas in the North Island - but probably not enough to be the reprieve they are looking for yet.
