BLACKPINK star Jennie wants to close the "gap" between her music and her real-life self

The 29-year-old singer has already enjoyed huge success in her music career, starring in the chart-topping girl group BLACKPINK - but Jennie now wants to bring her work life and her personal life closer together

Speaking to Complex, she explained: "Some people might feel the need to separate [themselves from their work], or some people might feel the need to be in sync. I think every artist has their own ways. But for me, I have leaned closer into, 'Let's make sure the gap isn't too big.'"

Jennie has reached a point in her life whereby she's ready to "shorten" the gap between her music and her real-life self.

The singer - who made her acting debut in the 2023 in 'The Idol', the HBO TV series - said: "Having that giant gap can get to you in a way where you weren't prepared, and nobody tells you how to keep yourself safe from all that.

"I've come to a point where I'm ready to shorten this gap of the presented self and my actual self. The closer I am to me, the less anxiety."

Jennie is also determined to make music that she can be "proud" of.

The 'Solo' hitmaker explained: "My dream would be being an artist that does music which I can be proud of, and which I can 100 percent claim for, where I feel that it's mine. Getting to that state is my dream.

"I don't want to get too deep into it. My dream is a very intimate thing for me, which motivates me."

Jennie has already toured the world as a member of BLACKPINK, but she still cherishes the experience of performing live in front of huge crowds.

The singer admitted to feeling "alive" whenever she's on stage in front of her fans.

She shared: "I feel alive when performing.

"It only makes sense for me to bring the emotion live in front of people. That's one of the biggest motivations that got me to start in music. It's a blessing to have fans that want to watch and listen to you."
