Selena Gomez has asked Martin Short to give a speech at her wedding

The pop star/actress is making plans for her big day since becoming engaged to music producer Benny Blanco last year - and she's now revealed her wedding will feature a very special appearance from her 'Only Murders In The Building' co-star

During an appearance on 'The Drew Barrymore Show', Selena revealed: "Marty is due to give a speech. I told him he must ... I feel like Marty would have an epic speech."

Selena went on to assure fans of the show that fellow star Steve Martin won't be left out - joking the comedian will probably treat guests to a musical performance, saying: "Steve will probably pull out his banjo."

The singer previously revealed Steve had an unusual way of passing on his congratulations after hearing her engagement news.

Speaking on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', Selena explained: "Steve made sure he sent my assistant an email so my assistant could tell me congratulations.

"That's how he communicates. He always tries to be polite. And it's very kind, but it's okay to send a little text."

The newly-engaged pair are looking forward to getting married, but they recently admitted they aren't rushing into their big day, and 37-year-old musician Benny joked his bride-to-be is constantly coming up with a whole new idea.

He told Rolling Stone magazine in a joint interview: "I think every day she's planned a new wedding in her head. We're very much 'take it one day at a time' type of people. We're still not over this moment.

"Literally, while you were talking, she was sitting there staring at her ring."

He went on to say of their romance: "It feels like we got engaged yesterday, but also feels like we got engaged 20 years ago. I've known her since she was 18, and so it's like we got all that stuff out of the way.

"By the time we're dating, it's like, whoa. My biggest regret is that we didn't get to do this earlier, like we waited this long to be together. But I know it was perfect and it was right."

Selena added: "Everything happens for a reason."
