    Banks will either dip into their profits, or fund out what's due -- in Reserve Bank loans


    The five big banks, Kiwibank, BNZ, Westpac, ANZ, and ASB, need to pay back around 9.2 billion dollars in total, from loans under the funding for lending scheme, during covid.

    Infometrics Principal Economist Brad Olsen says banks will be ready to pay these back.

    He explains banks were able to pass the cheap loans on to prevent inflation going too low -- but we did that well and let inflation get too high off the other side...
