    Five military-style semi-automatic weapons have been found stored in children's bedrooms - in a Napier home


    The firearms have been seized and a 42-year-old man been remanded in custody.

    Police seized the prohibited weapons while searching the house - after concerns about the man's fitness to hold a firearms licence.

    Detective Senior Sergeant James Keene says officers were aware vulnerable children could've accessed the firearms, which weren't locked away. and ammunition was accessible.

    The man faces 14 firearm and driving charges.
