Consumers are spending more on food, and less on everything else

Latest figures from payment processor Worldline, shows spending last month was up 2.5 percent on July last year.

It's the fourth consecutive month of higher spending.

However, most of the growth was at grocery stores, takeaway outlets and cafes, where food price inflation has been picking up.

Other retail sectors saw a slight decline.
