A Nomads member convicted over wearing gang insignia at a community event - has upped the ante in his challenge of patch ban legislation

A Nomads member convicted over wearing gang insignia at a community event - has upped the ante in his challenge of patch ban legislation

Open Justice reports Mana-Apiti Brown's lawyer asked the court to consider how Warriors or All Blacks fans might feel, if told they couldn't wear supporters' gear.

The 19-year-old's already unsuccessfully appealed his conviction, after being caught wearing a gang cap, backwards.

Through his lawyer, Brown's now continued his challenge of the new law - asking the High Court to issue a declaration of inconsistency.

He claims the Gangs Act is inconsistent with the Bill of Rights.
